Synopsis: 'I Had No Say' is the title of the book written by Sister Joyce Lubke, paediatric nurse and colleague of Kenneth S. Jaffrey. She wrote her book after years of observing the results of parents putting no effort into preparing for conception and the consequences of rearing children the standard way as advised by medical practice. Her book was a dedication to those who 'had no say', in the hope more parents would prepare for conception and rear their children according to the laws of nature. Mr Jaffrey himself would often say the best piece of health advice he could offer would be to "choose your parents wisely". I have had the great fortune of spending another week with my esteemed teacher and great friend Katy Adams Hinton, during which time we have of course had many discussions in all areas of Nature Cure. However, the subject of natural child rearing has been the topic we have focused on the most. Katy practiced for 30 years specialising in mothers and babies and has helped countless couples to raise healthy children. In Nature Cure we do not accept that the word 'FERTILITY' merely refers to the ability to reproduce. We are far more concerned with quality than quantity. The first question Katy would always ask couples who sought her guidance on conception preparation was, "Are you prepared to reproduce yourselves as you are today?" This question is absolutely fundamental. Katy's words to me this morning: "If only all prospective parents understood the immense gravity of the importance of BOTH parents conceiving in the best possible health, then so much heart break would be avoided." If becoming a parent is your goal, then consult with a Nature Cure professional and give yourself some time to prepare yourselves for the single most important act you will ever perform. We are not talking about perfection, but we encourage every couple to produce the best possible quality of which they are capable. It is only in this way that they can have the best chance of maximising hereditary strengths and minimising hereditary weaknesses. Once the child is conceived it is merely maintenance on the part of the mother, she can, and no health professional can, ever improve upon what was cast at point of conception...something to think about.
